Wednesday July 28th, 2021
  • 08:00 am - 8:20 am: Morning Rosary before Holy Mass
    Start your day with the Rosary, accompanied by the pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima and will be led by, David Carollo, Executive Director of the World Apostolate of Fatima USA - Our Lady's Blue Army.

  • 08:20 am - 9:00 am: Wednesday Morning Holy Mass
    We start off Wednesday of CMN MOMENTUM 2021 with the Rosary and Holy Mass celebrated by Father Mike Brennan, Director of the National Shrine of St. Joseph, in De Pere Wisconsin. With inspiring sacred music by world-class Irish Tenor Mark Forrest.

  • 09:00 am - 09:30 am: Catholic Brain Catechetical Institute Conference - WELCOME!
    The Catholic Brain Catechetical Institute Conference will start the day with a short reflection by Father Richard Heilman on how the holy fatherhood of Saint Joseph leads us to a deeper appreciation of the fatherhood of God.

    Enjoy coffee and a breakfast bar courtesy of the World Apostolate of Fatima - Our Lady's Blue Army and Divine Mercy University.

    Catholic Brain Catechetical Institute Executive Director, Dr. Marlon De La Torre launches the 2021 National Catholic Brain Conference for Catechists, Educators, and DRE's with the most essential question in faith formation: "How do you Lead a Child to God?"

    Join Marlon and the Catholic Brain team on a powerful two-day journey to answer that question with the timeless traditions of the Church infused in practical family formation that embraces the benefits of modern technology.

  • 01:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Session #2
    Dr. Joseph White, PHD, Our Sunday Visitor, speaks on Kerygma, encounter, accompaniment, and community are key themes in the Vatican's new Directory for Catechesis - our guidebook for how to hand on the faith. Kerygma is the core message of our faith - our reason for following Christ. Encounter is the necessary step for conversion that puts us on the path towards intentional discipleship. Accompaniment is the way in which we walk with others as they grow in faith. All of this happens in the context of community - the Body of Christ. In this session, we'll reflect on each of these themes and their implications for leading others on the path of discipleship.

  • 03:00 pm - 03:30 pm: Saint Joseph and Divine Mercy - Prayer and Reflection
    Father Chris Alar will lead this mid-afternoon time of prayer and reflection.  It will begin with special music guest: Anna Nuzzo performing a beautiful original new song honoring our event patron: Saint Joseph.Father Chris will then offer a short reflection leading us to consecrate our work and ministry to Saint Joseph in order to strengthen us to bring the blessing of Jesus' love and Divine Mercy to the world. Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet together will complete this special prayer experience.

  • 03:45 pm - 04:45 pm: Session #3
    Practicing the Virtue of Prudence. Award-winning author, educator, and Virtue Advocate, Cathy Gilmore, brings joyful insights to empower educators, DRE's, and anyone who strives to lead children closer to Christ. Cathy's presentation illumines the Cardinal Virtue of Prudence as a spiritual strength that is exercised in tandem with the virtues of: Humility, Faithfulness, and Wisdom. Cathy's signature imaginative and entertaining style will energize attendees with practical tools to inspire every child with the desire for heroic virtue!

    MOMENTUM 2021 Welcome Reception wraps up with a sponsored Celebration of Faith and Film. Join us for fun, games, and prizes! We'll be relaxing after a long, busy day as we take a look at how faith and film work together at Holy Cross Family Ministries.
    The film release of PRAY: THE STORY OF PATRICK PETYON, is the perfect example of how a film can be so much more...it can ignite a whole family prayer program, like the PRAY TOGETHER NOW Family Prayer Campaign. 
    Father Jim Phalan, C.S.C. , National Director of Family Rosary, and  Danielle Bean, Brand Manager of CatholicMom.com, will be our hosts. This will be an entertaining and interactive opportunity to delight in the way families can enrich relationships and prayer - energized by film-based experiences.

  • 09:30 am - 10:45 am: Break-out Session #1
    This smaller-group break-out session offers NAPCL Conference participants the opportunity to apply and internalize in a powerful and practical way, in spite of challenges, how to infuse a Catholic Worldview in the classroom.
    As students and families face the trials of a global pandemic, scandals in the Church, political polarization in our society, and more - faith formation can at times seem a daunting and discouraging task.
    In this session, Dr. Joseph White, Clinical Psychologist and catechist, will help attendees focus on the reason for our HOPE, and how we can listen to the voice of God in the midst of chaos, knowing he will sustain us in his work.

    These small-group break-out sessions offer NAPCL Conference participants the opportunity to apply and internalize in a powerful and practical way. This breakout session features Dr. Marlon De La Torre's recommendations regarding how to lead a child to God.

    Catholic Brain Catechetical Institute: Break-Out Session with Monica Ashour. - Clarity and Charity in the Midst of Confusion: Theology of the Body. Monica brings audiences a deep understanding of Theology of the Body through humor and storytelling that shows how St. John Paul's TOB teachings are a lens to see with a sacramental view of reality. Such insight is urgently needed in a world that denies the truth of the body through ideologies such as transgenderism. Teaching pastoral care that is filled with truth, Ashour gives catechists, teachers, faith formation directors, youth ministers, and parents, concrete ways strengthen faith formation with the truth of the Catholic faith from a TOB perspective.

    Pete Socks, Director of Content and Marketing for CatholicBrain presents Today in Salvation History: How to use technology in the classroom and in the home to teach the faith.
    This talk will focus on how the Church has adapted to methods of mass communication over 2000 years to evangelize and teach the Catholic faith. A particular emphasis will be placed on how to embrace modern technology and use it for the good of the family, and the good of the Church.
